MEMPHIS, Tenn. -

Cell phone video captures a man being shot with a rifle in broad daylight.

FOX13 is learning more about what happened and the search for the gunman.

"I thought it was a BB gun. It went boom, boom, boom and you saw the light," said an anonymous neighbor.

Memphis Police are searching for a man driving a black Nissan Murano.

Investigators said he pulled the trigger during a shooting on the 600 block of Sevier Street in the High Point Terrace neighborhood on Friday afternoon.

A neighbor's video shows two men, one in a black T-shirt holding a rifle and the other in a red shirt.

Witnesses said they were arguing about why the man in the Murano was parked in front of the other man's house, until it got ugly.

"I’m yelling, 'Call 911! there's blood coming down his leg," said an anonymous neighbor.

Police said the suspect fired several shots at the victim hitting him in the lungs.

The suspect drove off.

They said he was in a black Nissan Murano with damage to the passenger side.

The Memphis Police Department released images of the man they believe fired shots at another man during a "verbal altercation" on Friday, June 2, 2023, on Sevier Street in Memphis.

"Heard some tires peeling out and a whole lot of screaming like, 'What did you do?'" said anonymous business owner.

The victim left in the street with gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

One business owner who's been in the area for more than 30 years said the gun violence keeps getting worse.

"This street has been the same throughout the years, but it's got to the point where the younger generation is involved and it's getting hectic," said an anonymous driver.

Memphis Police originally posted on Facebook that this was a carjacking, but they now said that was a mistake. They said it started as an argument and led to an assault.

Police told FOX13 Monday afternoon that the shooter is still on the loose.

If you know who he is or where he is, call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
